Reset & Co's Wooden Wick Candles

Reset & Co's Wooden Wick Candles

The Birth of Reset & Co

Our founder, Shannon Clarke developed Reset & Co at a time in her life when she was searching for an outlet and a way to…well, reset! She knew she was ready to create something that she was passionate about, and this came fairly naturally as she discovered that when looking for ways to decompress after a long day of work, she always found herself lighting her favorite candle to set the ambiance. With this being the case, she wanted to develop something that would allow others to attain the same feeling that this gave her. Out of this came the Reset & Co wood wick candle!

What sets Reset & Co apart from other candle creators, is our passion to create scents that provide an experience for our candle owners, such as coming home after a long day from work and setting the ambiance with a glass of wine and a perfectly lit candle, or mentally escaping to the beach while working from home. Whatever that experience is for you, we want to be a part of it!

Why Wooden Wick Candles?

Here at Reset & Co, we have all purchased and re-purchased our favorite scented candles over the years, which usually consisted of those made with cotton wicks, as we assumed that was the only sustainable option out there. Over time, we realized that this (obviously) was not the case, but that the cotton wick just happened to be the most common option on the market. Therefore, when Reset & Co was born, we wanted to create an eco-friendly, toxin-free luxury candle that was out of the norm in both looks and experience.

What Makes Our Wood Wick Candles Unique?

When you purchase a Reset & Co candle, we want you to know that you’re purchasing a quality, luxury candle that was hand-poured and crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail. Our wooden wick candles release a great hot and cold fragrance, making them the perfect addition to any small space, both lit and unlit!

Our goal when developing our wooden wick candles was to create timeless, aesthetically pleasing additions that would provide a bit of a modern feel and elevate any space of your choosing!

We’re committed to the investment that creating a wooden wick candle takes on our end because we want our candle users to feel confident in the quality of their purchase.

Wood Wick Candle Benefits

Wood wick candles provide a pleasant burning experience due mainly to their low combustibility. Unlike cotton wicks, wood wick candles do not leave a large amount of sooty residue that results from a dirty burn. Our team often had trouble finding a good scented candle that provided a uniform burn, particularly when looking for non-paraffin candles. We often found that other wick options, when lit, caused tunneling and resulted in a hollow middle with more use.

Our candle wicks produce an even burn with the wax heated across the entire width of the jar. We also love the low flame that the wooden wick produces as opposed to the larger flame height that a cotton wick produces, which can become hazardous while burning. A traditional cotton wick candle often ignites stronger light due to its larger flame height, however, as mentioned, a cotton wick candle also gives off a dirty burn, leaving behind sooty residue. Because our wooden wicks provide a more subtle flame, this allows for a cleaner burn, which releases the fragrance more consistently at an even pace.

Another benefit of wood wick candles is the lack of mushroom top we would normally see on that of cotton wick candles.

Unlike other conventional wicks, our wooden wicks also produce a soft crackling sound with a warm glow that adds an element of relaxation that we are obsessed with!

Do Wood Wicks Require A Lot Of Maintenance?

Almost all candles need a bit of TLC to maintain useful shelf life. The wood wick candles we make are easy to light, and unlike cotton wicks, the wooden wick can be easily trimmed via rubbing in between two fingers if you don’t have a wick trimmer on hand. We recommend trimming the wood candle wicks to a ¼ inch before the first burn, and once more before the second burn for optimal burn time. We recommend that your first burn last about 60 minutes to aid in the wax melting evenly. An uneven wax pool can drown the wick & create issues with preserving the wick for longer shelf life. To preserve the longevity of the candle scent, we recommend not burning your candles longer than 4 hours at a time.

Our Sustainability Model

Here at Reset & Co, our goal is to provide our candle users with only the very best, and since we are already bombarded with so many environmental toxins daily, why add more? This is why we chose to create eco-friendly coconut soy wax candles with a wood wick, over beeswax, or paraffin wax candles with a cotton wick. Our wood wicks are 100% natural, environmentally sustainable, and cruelty-free. Our scented candles are created from naturally sourced wax, which means that they do not contain any petroleum elements and are 100% vegan.

All candles emit some amount of soot, however, coconut soy wax emits much less than that of paraffin wax candles, reducing discoloration of your candle jars and decreasing circulated toxins in your home. With less soot and toxins released into the air, we can help decrease carbon buildup and give both our planet and your home a little extra love!

Another benefit of coconut soy versus other alternatives, is that our candle scents can show off a bit more with the sustainable burn that coconut soy wax provides. Our wood wick candles are made with just the right amount of fragrance so that they leave your home smelling like your favorite scent without being too overpowering. Too much fragrance oil will compromise the wax, so having a clean burn that protects the aroma is important.
